Monday Extension Report – July 6, 2009

4-H Quality Assurance Training

  • Thursday, July 9, 5-7 PM at the Extension Office
  • This is the last quality assurance training of the year.
  • Quality assurance training is required for all 4-H livestock, poultry and rabbit members.
  • Junior aged members must attend a training. Intermediate and Senior aged members may choose to take an exam rather than attend a training.

4-H Horse Advancement Levels Opportunity

  • Sunday, July 12, 8-11 AM CT Cherry County Fairgrounds.
  • In addition to the standard levels testing options, the Cherry County 4-H Horse Committee is providing the opportunity for 4-Hers to complete all of their levels testing requirements at one time. Demonstrations, written exams, skills tests, submission of written reports, feed charts, etc. for Level 1 and Level 2 may be done at that time.

When Bats Cross the Line, Take Action

July is when bat young become mature enough to begin exploring.

Unfortunately, they frequently lack the strength to follow the rest of the colony out of the roost, so they may look for other opportunities to “spread their wings.” Frequently, this means your living space.

If you discover a bat in your living area, there are several things you should do to protect your family.
