Monday Extension Report – March 31, 2008

March 31, 2008

Wow, I hope you like snow. I guess March is going out like a LION! I hope everyone is enjoying the day off from school.

I have the results of Saturday’s 4-H Communication and Expressive Arts contest for you. The excellent speeches set the tone for the entire day. In the Senior division, Jodi Bowlin gave the top regular speech, and Chelsea Fullerton was the top in the impromptu category.

Shawna Wheeler was the top intermediate speaker and Kooper Reece was the top Novice speaker. In the Public Service Announcements Tylar Osterman was the top intermediate and Tori Osterman was the top Junior.

Rounding out the speeches was CloverKid Kaitlin Keating. Darling, now that’s a word I don’t know that I’ve ever used before, but darling is the word the judge used for Kaitlin’s presentation. Those clover kids never cease to amaze me. I don’t know that you could have gotten me up there when I was younger than eight.

Saturday afternoon was filled with music. In the vocal competition Erin Dunn was named top Senior. Gavin Higgins was top intermediate and Kelsey Higgins was top junior. Kelsey was also the top Junior Pianist. Top intermediate piano was a duet by Michaela and Savannah Jackson.

Chelsea Fullerton was the top Senior Instrumentalist and a duet by Katie Compton and Gillian Cheney was top intermediate instrumental. Kelly Bowlin won top intermediate Talent and the Higgins family won top group.

Congratulations to everyone who participated. I was impressed and amazed wonderful skills exhibited. Good Job. I also want to give a big thank you to our judges for the competition. Caroline Scott judged the speeches, Anne Clark judged the vocals and Jodi Logterman judged the instrumentals. Thank you all.

Finally for today, I want to remind you about the Pesticide Safety Education program for Private Pesticide Applicators next Monday, April 7. This will be the last training we offer for the year, so if you need licensed, or need to renew your existing license, don’t forget to be there next Monday. The training will be at 1:30 pm Central Time in the Cherry County courthouse meeting room.
