I’m sorry about having to cancel the Risk and Insurance workshop last week. We just didn’t have enough people registered to justify bringing speakers all the way from Colorado. I guess I’m pretty unpopular in O’Neill though. We had the same workshop planned there for the day after ours. The extension office there didn’t ask for pre-registrations, so we had no way to gauge interest. Apparently the secretaries at the office there fielded between 30 and 35 calls from people who had been planning to come and couldn’t believe that I had canceled it. Oh well, I guess you can’t be right all of the time. It’s concrete proof that I am still learning my job. I’ve ask this before, but I will remind you of it. If you have any ideas for an educational program, or there is something that you would like to have me bring to our area, give me a call. We’ll see if we can make it happen.
At 10:00 a.m. this Thursday morning, I’ll be participating in a Ecotourism / hospitality management session over the computer. If you are interested in learning more about the Hospitality and Tourism Industries, you are welcome to join me at my office. Just let me know ahead of time that you are coming so I can project it up on the wall and hook up the speakerphone. That way we won’t be huddled around a computer monitor.
The Commercial and Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification training classes are coming up in March. The Recertification Training will be Tuesday, March 18 and the Initial training will be Thursday, March 20. Both of these trainings are coordinated through the State Pesticide Education office in Lincoln, so you need to call 1-800-627-7216 to sign up for the training.
4-Hers with market beef projects, the 4-H Market Beef Weigh-in in Cody will be March 1 from 1-3 pm Mountain Time at Lancaster Supply. Don’t forget that your animals must be tagged before the weigh-in. You will need to pickup your tags at the Extension Office right away.
I would also like to remind everyone that the 4-H Speech and Expressive Arts contest will be Saturday, March 29 at the Valentine Rural High School auditorium.
As always, you can contact the extension office at 376-1850 or visit us on the web at cherry.unl.edu for more information on any of the things I’ve covered.
