I hope no one has suffered too greatly because of the storm. I also hope that the snow won’t wreck havoc with our workshops this week. In addition to the eAg workshops in Wood Lake and Elsmere, I also have to travel to Stapleton twice to teach eAg there.
This afternoon from 1:30-3:30 we will have the eAG: Decision Support Tools workshop in Wood Lake. We will cover ration balancing software, feed cost comparison tools and budgeting software. I’ll be sending you home with a CD full of tools. eAg workshops are conducted in the BitMobile, UNL Extension’s self-contained mobile classroom. Even though the Wood Lake Cafe is closed on Monday’s, they have generously allowed me to park the BitMobile in their parking lot. Just look for the big gray trailer.
Don’t forget we’ll also be having the eAG workshop Wednesday in Elsmere. That workshop will also be from 1:30 – 3:30pm. I’m most concerned about the weather interfering with my getting to Elsmere with the Bitmobile. It’s a 30 foot bumper hitch trailer that we pull with a 2-wheel drive pickup. I’ll get it to Elsmere if I can. Otherwise, Purdum, or maybe Halsey if I can’t get off of the highway. In any event, it may be safest to call on Wednesday to find out the plan. UPDATE : WE WILL BE AT THE BANK IN PURDUM.
Next week are pesticide safety education programs in Valentine and Merriman. These programs are for people who either need a private pesticide applicators license, or have a license that expires this year. Anyone who purchases or applies a restricted use pesticide is required by law to have a pesticide applicators license. The training will be held next Monday, January 28th at 1:30 PM Central Time in the Cherry County Courthouse meeting room. A training will also be held at the Village Hall in Merriman next Wednesday, January 30 at 1:30 Mountain Time.
Extension Board members, the meeting is on tonight as scheduled. 6:30 pm at the extension office.
I also want to reming you that the 4-H Council is making plans for their Luck of the Draw raffle fundraiser that’s held during Bull Bash. If you have something that you would like to donate, please contact the Extension office or any 4-H member.
Contact the extension office at 376-1850 for more information on any of the things I’ve covered.
