When I got home last Monday, my kids asked me, do you have a cold or something? We heard you on the radio and you sounded weird. So sorry if it was unbearable last week, hopefully I’m back to normal today. Whatever normal’s worth, we all have to work with what we have.
It’s fair time, or at least close enough that my reminder list is almost overwhelming. So grab a pencil and hang on. Don’t forget, if you don’t quite get it written down before I’m off on the next topic, you can always log on to our web site at cherry.unl.edu or give us a call at the Extension Office.
The 4-H Livestock and Small Animal entries are due tomorrow. Please get these in on time. There is a lot of work to do with them before fair; computer entry, stall assignments, cross checking against id sheets and quality assurance training. Please do Kris and the livestock committee a favor and get those entries in on time.
Don’t forget we are taking signups for the next Citizenship Washington Focus trip in 2010. We have a couple of potential fundraisers coming up soon. If you don’t sign up by tomorrow, you won’t be eligible to participate in CWF fundraisers held during August. Call or stop by the Extension office for more information and a registration form.
There are several pre-fair events happening the next two weeks. Wednesday is the Clothing and Presentations contests. The public style show and presentations will start at 5:00 pm in the 4-H Building at the fairgrounds, this Wednesday August 1.
The 4-H Horse Show is August 7, and the Shooting Sports contest is August 10. If you get a chance, show your support by dropping by to watch and root the kids on.
The last event I have on my list to tell you about today is a 4-H Horse fun day sponsored by the Gordon Valley and Wood Lake Rangers 4-H Clubs. It will start at 10:00 am on August 4 at the Cherry County Fairgrounds. Call Jenny Reece if you have any questions about the Horse fun day.
As always, check out cherry.unl.edu or call the extension office at 402-376-1850 for more information on any of the things I’ve covered.
